Two & A Half

//Two & A Half//

You are so much fun, and speaking in complete sentences now.

A few of the funniest things you have said, or say, that I never-ever want to forget:

1 // There's an apple in my shoe.

Translation: There's something in my shoe. (Usually there isn't anything in her shoe- but we still have to go through the whole untying the shoe, shaking the shoe and putting the shoe back on again to say "All better now!".)

2 // I fell down at school yesterday.

Translation: I have a boo-boo and I don't remember where or when it happened, but falling down at school seems like a logical explanation. (She hasn't been to school in 2 1/2 months, and usually it's an imaginary boo-boo that needs one- or five band-aids.)

3 // While helping Mommy take laundry out of the dryer, pulling Daddy's pants out and exclaiming: "Mommy, these are the BIGGEST panties I've ever seen!"

Translation: Whenever Daddy starts throwing a temper-tantrum he needs to put his big-girl panties on and get over it.

My Girl

She is mine and I am hers.  My little girl.  We are so much alike, in good ways and bad.  She doesn't like to get messy, but she knows how to make a mess.  She is cautious, not much of a risk-taker but eager to be in the middle of what's happening.  She loves to please others and has the best manners any 2 1/2 year old could have.  She's moody, hot tempered, and feisty but she loves passionately and believes in the good of everyone.  She's a bit shy around adults, but she's very friendly towards other children and is always the first to say "hi."  She lives off of strawberry ice cream, peanut butter and bananas.  She is a daddy's girl, and her eyes light up every time he walks through the door.  She insists on having freshly painted piggy toes - always with pink polish.  She believes in make-believe, in princesses and happily ever after...

She is my happily ever after, my dream come true, my pretty princess in pink.

Beach Bums

I didn't take my camera out of the bag the entire time we were at the beach.  I kept meaning to, but it was just too much fun playing in the sun and the sand, so the only pictures I took were from my phone.  I've always loved the beach, but now with kids the beach is even better.  We played all day, spending all morning at the beach, and the afternoons at the pool.  Hubby and I even got to get away most nights after we put the kids to bed for a few date nights just the two of us, including a (very long) walk on the beach at sunset.  Our beach week was everything it should have been, we lived in our bathing suits only changing into clothes at night, and treated ourselves to good food and dessert after every meal.  Since we've been back Chloe has referred to "her beach house" numerous times, including asking where it is and that she would like to go play at the beach.  This poses a bit of a problem, considering we only rented a condo for the week and it is four hours away - but yes my girl, I would like to go back too.

Five of my favorite things from our week at the beach:

1// Playing in the sand.  These two loved everything about the beach - the saltwater, building sandcastles, flying a kite ... everything.  Everyday Chloe wanted to go out further and further into the ocean with Daddy - and Yates loved to try and "catch" the waves as they crashed, giggling and running around on the shore.  Neither one (despite Mama's best efforts) minded getting sand everywhere.  They rolled in it, dumped it on each other and even didn't seem to mind when they were eating that they were eating a little bit of sand too that was left on their fingers.

2 // Morning walks.  Usually Chloe was the first one up, and we'd leave to let the boys sleep in, but one morning Yates was up early enough to go walk with Mama on the beach.  It was my favorite time of the day, watching the sunrise above the ocean.

3 // Happy hour on the back porch - which included listening to the crashing ocean waves, and most nights eating cookies and popsicles.  One night we were even blessed to see a rainbow, as bright as I've ever seen.

4 // A day trip with a merry-go-round ride, a balloon ride, lunch and shopping - a princess dress for Chloe (which she rarely took off the rest of the week, except to change into her bathing suit) and two trucks for Yates.

5 // Family date night.  A round of shirley temples, and a round of putt-putt.  Which I won, and I am never going to let Dada forget it.
