This little guy won't ever admit that he's tired... but when he's tired, he's tired, and will fall asleep the moment he realizes it... right then and there. Bless his heart, he tries to keep up and doesn't want to miss a thing, but it's hard being a two-year-old- and when you skip your afternoon nap it's bound to catch up with you. My favorite days this summer have consisted of a morning walk to the park, followed up with an afternoon by the pool... which leaves this little boy t.i.r.e.d. Finding him fast asleep in the middle of the living room, in the middle of the kitchen, in the middle of a snack, in the middle of a hide-and-go-seek game (at the bottom of the stairs) has made my heart full, for it reminds me that we have made the best of this summer. We haven't wasted a moment of it from going to and from the beach to the mountains, to the (few) moments we were home and spending time just enjoying the lazy days of spending the afternoon in the backyard under the sprinkler, or storytime at the library.
We leave to go to the beach for a week tomorrow, to savor the last days before Daddy's first football game and school starts back. I am so grateful for these busy weeks I've had with my family, and wish time would stand still for the next 10 days.
